Donate – “In Memory of”

Since the beginning of Saddlebred Rescue (SBR) we have had special donors that have wanted to honor a friend, relative or loved one who has passed on by recognizing that person with a donation to the rescue.  We do not have a set procedure but we respect the request of the donor and their wishes.  The rescue typically sends a letter or card, on behalf of the donor,  to the family to recognize the special gift made to their loved one’s memory and how the donation has helped horses in need.

The rescue has also had several occasions where the family of the loved one has requested donations to Saddlebred Rescue in place of flowers.  We recently had one situation in New Jersey where a daughter, wife and mother passed on from an illness and the family recognized their loved one’s special interest in horses, especially the American Saddlebred breed.  Donations were directed to SBR.  We used the money and bought 3 horses at auction that were destined to go to slaughter.  We named one of the horses after the lost family member.  We have informed the family of our actions and how we used the donations and asked them if they were interested to be kept informed of the status of these rescued animals until they find a new adopted “forever home”.  They were very appreciative of our use of the memorial donations and they told us that they would very much like to be kept informed of the future for these special horses.

Each and every donation to Saddlebred Rescue “In Memory of” will receive a letter receipt from the rescue as well as a confirmation that we have followed their written requests.

Donations can be sent to Saddlebred Rescue at 6 Meadow Cliff Lane  Hardwick, NJ 07825.  We suggest you write in the memo section of your check, “In Memory of – and include the person’s name”.  Also send us a note with your instructions, if any.

You can also make a memorial donation by credit card via our new Donation Station powered by Network for Good.

Thank you for thinking of the horses and Saddlebred Rescue.
